Sooooo...... for preparation day we got permission to go with some investigators to a place called muroto. Its in Kouchi prefecture, but kouchi prefecture is pretty big. We left the apartment at 6:30 AM and got back at 8 PM. WOAH. it was over 100 miles round trip. IN ONE DAY. But was good for relationship building since they both have high potential for baptism.
I`ll send pictures next week, don`t really have time this week. but gosh was it awesome. The south east tip of Shikoku.
I am soooooo tired. That was what..... 4 marathons?!? yeah.
We had a bunch more lessons this last week. And we had a move-in to the branch! So it is looking like we will fulfill the requirements for a ward very very soon.
The Lord truly loves the people here. Lots of good things coming up soon.

Week 88 Blessings from the Lord 主からの祝福
It was a great week. We taught lots of lessons. The area has been struggling since like 6 months ago, and we just doubled the number of lessons the area has had for the last 6 months in a week. Oh yeah. ^^ It looks like we will have a lot of lessons this week as well. Blessings!
It took a lot of effort from us and past missionaries, but the blessings of the Lord are evident now. So glad to be a part of this great work!
We got transfer calls. Me and Elder Weir will be staying, the other two elders are both transferring. In their place, Elder Dickson (yes, from Matsuyama times) and a brand new missionary will be coming. should be good.

Week 87: The Apartment あのアパート
So. This week we were visiting some more less actives. ( we are supposed to visit all 300+ of them... so yeah haha. ) and we got to this one. We got near the area and asked someone if they knew this person. they told us `yeah, she is over there in that apartment on the top floor. You`ll hear the music.` so we went over there. yeah, we heard music alright. got to the entrance of the apartment, and we hear this Gothic style opera music like out of a horror movie blasting from the apartment. we entered, and it was even louder. We climbed the stairs. there was random stuff everywhere. a fridge. a table. we kept climbing. Get to the top, and there is the boom box blasting the music. can`t even hear each other at this point. Then we knock on the door. She answers. we try to ask if she is who we are looking for, and she responded with the alphabet. I was very confused. Still not sure if we visited the right person....... but it was very interesting. the story is way too long to write it all here, but a lot of strange things happened. haha. The conversation made no sense at all. She apparently owns the entire apartment building though. She walked right into a few of the other rooms, that were also full of random stuff.

So far we have located 30+ people who have expressed some interest in returning to church. 2 people came back to church.... a Melchizedek priesthood holder and an older aaronic priest. but we found 2 more that look like they will come back this week. Most people we try to find moved away 10+ years ago! but the people we do meet have been pretty nice. A good reminder of the importance of Home teaching. IT IS SO IMPORTANT!!!

Week 86: Final stretch 最後の努力
Last week of the Shikoku stake project. The project is going well. looks like we`ll have a stake! it`s going to be great. The members could really use a stake! It is very different from a district of areas. The blessings that are contained in a stake are incredible.
Working with a lot of less active people, I`ve thought a lot about what causes lasting conversion. Many people we visit say they are just doing a different life now, they can`t go back. That they will yield themselves to such temptations from Satan is really too bad. If they had a more solid testimony of the atonement and what it can do in their lives, things would be so different.
Also, less active members are always not reading scriptures, and not praying. and of course, not attending church. Those three things are SOO IMPORTANT! never forget those things. The funny thing is that when you ask them why they haven`t been going to church, none of their excuses really make that much sense. They were just lead away by temptation.
I just want to tell them:
how have your prayers been lately?
uhh...... I haven`t been praying.
DON`T YOU KNOW THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER?!?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!?!
But then I decide to be nice and like the Savior and I choose better words. haha.
We had a ton of conferences in far away places (kobe, matsuyama) , so it will be nice to just stay in kochi for a couple weeks. going to get some good work done!

Week 85: General authority address 中央幹部の説教
It was a good week! just an hour ago I went to the ear doctor and got my ears cleaned out thoroughly. I'm sure you all wanted to hear that. But it was actually really cool. They had a camera in my ear the whole time so I could watch the whole thing. It was gross. they used a tiny vacuum and a metal hook. I can hear better now. The ear doctor in Japan is way high tech! haha. and it only cost $11.
We had a general authority come tour the mission again. Elder Whiting. I`d never heard of him. He gave some really good training about the Atonement. The Atonement is the answer to everything. I`ve learned that time and time again on my mission. When I was in the MTC, we had Elder Kikuchi come to give a talk. (he`s Japanese) He told us that there was one souvenir that we should all gain while on our missions, and that was the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Take it home as a souvenir. When he said that, I didn`t really get it. But now I understand. I can feel the atonement work in my daily life, cleansing me, and equally as important, giving me the capacity to do the work of God. I have felt it work through me to convert the souls of others. Speaking as directed by the spirit with the enabling power of the sacrifice of the Savior`s atonement is literally the coolest thing there is.
I`ve also learned another important thing on my mission. The atonement doesn`t make anything easier. That isn`t the point. The atonement gives us the ability to do things beyond our power. Gives us the capacity to put forth effort beyond our own.
The Savior lives! The fact that he lives is the ultimate proof of his Victory over death, and the source of hope, so that we know where to look to receive a remission of our sins. The Atonement allows us to receive divine help in our daily lives, and eventually continue down the path that leads to Eternal Life.

oh by the way, the effort for building a stake is going well. We are going to have to rely on the Lord a lot for the next 2 weeks, but through the Lord`s grace, the Stake will be formed on Shikoku within the month!

Week 84: Kochi! 高知！
Kochi is a great place. It is also really really really really big. really big. really really big. So we are supposed to visit all the members living here..... but outside of kochi city..... its pretty far. We went out with members all day on Saturday, and were able to contact a bunch of far away people. set up one teaching appointment! and it is 13 kilometers away. on this wednesday. haha. We are going by train so that it doesn`t take the whole entire day.
This week we went over 100 kilometers on bike. Yes, that is a long way. haha. But we were able to find 2 new less actives that will meet with us regularly starting last week, and several that can do that starting next week! looking good.
Sooooo....... As far as the building a stake on Shikoku goes. Basically everyone is depending on us still. the other 4 branches have hit the requirements, and if we can get 3 more elders to come to activity, we have a stake.
The goal deadline is in 3 weeks.
Good news! 2 elders are one interview away from `activity` and an active, tithe-paying elder is moving to kochi branch!!!! So things are looking like it will be possible. We are working closely with the branch and they are helping us a ton.
Had a few people who really have no interest in listening to us..... which is too bad because they got baptized already! but we found a lot of people with interest in returning as well. Kochi has the 2nd highest number of members, 360ish. Only an average of 39 come to church though. what?!?! got to change that! ^^

Week 83 : Kochi 高知
Its Kochi! This place is way cool. The area is by far the largest one in the mission. Its really huge. the closest area is like over 2 hours away by high speed bus. uhhhh..... yeah really far. On Friday, there was a crazy blizzard all over the mission! and it was transfer day. haha. dang it. So went from matsuyama to okayama to kobe back to okayama then to kochi. Look at a mission map. Yeah, it was pretty crazy. like 20 hours of travel. The buses all shut down to the snow, so we had to take a train..... and the only train that goes straight there is super expensive, but we made it! haha. Got back the the apartment and just collapsed as soon as possible.
We arrived, and one of the bikes was in a repair shop already. bummer. haha. It got fixed today, but we walked around a ton!!! so we have the responsibility to visit every single less active, and try to get as many as possible to return to church. Most importantly, if kochi branch can get 3 more active M. Priesthood holders in the next 3 weeks, shikoku can become a stake! there are a few priests that could possibly become elders, and there are tons of less active elders and even a few high priests. In the 2 days we were here so far, we were already able to set up an appointment with 1 Elder, 1 priest, and get an Elder to come back to church yesterday! Everyone we have selected to visit has had positive reactions so far. Now that we have bikes, we can visit a lot more. haha. We walked for over 10 kilometers yesterday.
My companion is way cool. His dad served a mission in Japan, and married one of the sister missionaries from his mission. So he is half Japanese. His Japanese is way good already, but I have to do all the kanji reading. (which is a lot with this responsibility, record and map reading)
Looking forward to another great week! The Lord's hand is apparent here in Kochi!
